In honor of International Girl Child Day, The Florence Mensah Foundation joined hands with Reflo Company Limited to lend a helping hand to the Kayayei community in Accra. This heartfelt initiative took place at the Makola AMA forecourt in Accra, where they generously donated pads offering moments of relief and hope to these resilient young women.
The event saw the distribution of over 1,000 Reflo’s sanitary pads to the Kayayei, an initiative that aims to support vulnerable women in Ghana, particularly the female head porters. The theme of the event was “Empowering Kayayei with knowledge on good feminine hygiene and reproductive health care.”
The Florence Mensah Foundation and Reflo Company Limited, known for their commitment to educating young women about the importance of menstrual hygiene and general well-being, added a sensitisation program which was conducted by Faustina Boamah, a midwife from the Lekma Hospital. The Kayayei girls received practical training on proper hygiene practices, including the correct usage and disposal of sanitary napkins.
In addition to the educational efforts, the company’s brand ambassadors, Michy and Anita Akuffo, played an active role in educating and entertaining the Kayayei, underscoring the importance of good feminine hygiene and reproductive health care.
This joint effort, by the Florence Mensah Foundation and Reflo Company Limited serves as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a difference. By working together, we can create a better future for these young women.
